maybe I have it

maybe I have it

Maybe I have it.

My nose runs all the time anyway, but maybe this is something more.

Why wouldn’t it be?

Am I feverish?

My head is warm.

Maybe it’s warm because my office is warm and I’m wearing both a sweatshirt and a hat.  That could be it, or maybe I’m sick.

Is my throat sore?  It’s kind of scratchy.

Maybe my throat is scratchy because I had some Irish whisky last night to celebrate St. Pat’s day.

Maybe my throat is scratchy because we slept with the window open a little bit.

Maybe it’s scratchy because I went for a two hour bike ride yesterday – it was chilly and dry out there.

Or maybe my throat is scratchy because of something more serious.

Again, why wouldn’t it be?

Why do I think I’m going to catch the Covid-19 virus?  I usually escape the routine colds and flu that other people get.  I’m one of those people who just doesn’t get sick.

But I’m scared of this one.  I don’t want it, and I certainly don’t want to transmit it to anyone else.

I’m doing my part.  Staying away from others and washing my hands.  I am one hand-washing son of a mother.

Am I sick?  Run the checklist:

Tired?  Nope.

Chills? Nope

Headache?  Nope.

Body aches? Nope.

Hurt when I swallow?  No.

Appetite?  Ravenous

Focus? No worse than usual

Lethargy?  No, just lazy.

But my nose is running and my throat might be scratchy and maybe I’m a little warm.

Or, maybe I’m fine.  Maybe I’m JUST FINE.

But I don’t know.
